Are there Tech Ref manuals for the Garmin products

Just bought a Nuvi 775T and was very pleased with how it worked in the US, picking up the signal within minutes of switching on in the rental car in the rental garage. The unit having previously been used in the UK

What I would like to read is a technical reference manual or the equivalent that describes the content of the various files in the product and what other files can be added to the product without compromising the performance.

The data on the Garmin site assumes one knows what can be achieved rather than describing the potential scope of the product.

A typical question would be how could I increase the detail that is displayed on the screen eg railway lines at the normal driving image size.
