Hi all

I have found a route on the CTC website which I would like to download and inport into my Active 10.

When I save the file the file extention is a XML file.

Any idea on the best way of get such files from XML to GPX so I import in the active 10.

I normally use www.bikehike.co.uk but can not import XML files.

Would apprecaite any ideas

Many thanks for you time

Kind regards

Mike

Mike, I always strart with GPS Babel for format conversion, you can download it from Here Once you have it downloaded try using the GPSBabelGUI application as its easier!!
If you want to e-mail me the file you want to convert to SatMap format so I can have a look at it please use the e-mail button at the bottom of this post - Mike

Once you've saved the XML file try changing the file extension to gpx you may find that this will then import into satmap. I'm not a member of ctc so I couldn't try it but I have done this before on files myself and it worked. worth a try and if it works saves having to convert everytime.

The CTC files download as 'route.gpx.xml' - all I do is delete the .xml, OK the question to use .gpx instead and its done - a gpx file. (Done on a Mac - Windows users may have more difficulty Laughing )

It is easy on a Windows machine XP or Vista, just make sure you have the option to "Show file extensions" enabled in Windows Explorer, when you re-name the file extensions Windows warns you its not a good idea but just OK the popup box - Sat Sync can then read the file - Mike

This may not work on XP depending on whether the file type is recognised. Go to 'Tools'/'Folder Options'/'View' and deselect "Hide extensions for known file types".
