|

Since upgrading my Speed Sentry to the 30 Sep database nearly all the cameras are showing as "unknown". It is still picking up all the cameras but not the type.
I've checked the CSV and it looks the right one. The entries are in the format:
-2.48386 52.69615 GATSO:12@30
Any ideas, I notice 7/10 is available so I'll update to that one and see if it is better.[/img] _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

I will have a look at this on one of my devices as heading data was added to the individual entries for each camera where known, it is possible the Speed Sentry application is getting confused by the alteration to the data format - Mike |

Hi st1967,
I think that it may be to do with the fact that since 30th September 2009 the camera database has had “Directional Warnings” added to the camera name, such as: W-; SW-;NW-; etc.
Have a look at the Directional Warnings for All thread.
Unfortunately I’ve not updated my Speed Sentry database for a few weeks, but I have compared the newer Speed Sentry databases with some older ones so I’m pretty sure that I’m right.
EDIT: beaten by mikealder again!

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at that thread. The 7/10 was exactly the same so I guess it is those. _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

In case any other Speed Sentry users are interested I've been swapping a few e-mails with Trevor from Tchart and he's seen the new database style and hopes to have an updated version quite soon that will use the directional data.
Excellent news I think. _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

i've not spoken to trevor for a while but i do hope he will make use of the proper directional data (i.e. 263 deg instead of 'W')
i'd best drop him an email again in the morning!

Hi Guys
Someone dropped me a line about the format change (just this week).
I am making code changes ASAP. First cut is likley to just correctly display the camera type. Second cut will take direction into account.
I do plan to move to the iGo format which has true direction (ie in degrees)
Regards

hi trevor, as i've mentioned before i'm more than happy to produce a unique fileset if you want it?
if you are using the igo set up then please bear in mind that it marks gatso, truvelo, monitron as the same camera type so it wouldn't be able to display the full camera name/type. it also does not include the camera id which is handy for reporting errors etc.
if you ARE set on using igo then let me know if you need a 'key' to the camera types used.

Trevor, It would be a shame if we 'lost' the camera name in TChart. I use it for verification, because it gives more info than the IGO based SW that I use on my Mio. Also if you use the directional data, please make it switchable as if it is only directional, then it will be more difficult to verify cams on the other side of the road, as they would not warn. |
