What iPAQ are you using ? For the 36xx series you should be using COM4, for others try COM5 or 6. Memory-Map should have no problems with the Emtac which is a great Jacket (I have one myself and use with Memory-Map :D _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor
Hi thanks for the reply, I have an ipaq 3850. What manufacturer have you set up for?, I am showing a choice of Navman,NMEA,Garmin,Magellan or SIRF. on the com port it does show emtac-gpsjaq-1787 at com5, but I still get "cant open com port" when using the program, very strange?
There is a slight conflict between this program and TomTom GPS, particularly if Tom Tom is installed first, which it was in my case. With TomTom installed, regardless of the settings I kept getting the cant open com port message each time I started memory map.
The solution was to completely uninstall TomTom GPS, then re-install it. For some strange reason, this now allows me to completely shut down the GPS part, which I could not do before, and get memory map working.
There may be something peculiar with the setup on my pocket pc, but at least this approach worked.
