Ordered TT3 BT a week or so ago - and been reading these forums to see if there's anything I need to know when it eventually turns up. Anyway - while I wait patiently I've got a few questions:

I currently use Compaq iNS 1.2 - presumably my days of driving 50 miles before getting a fix will be over??

Is TT generally considered "better" than my antique version of CoPilot?

Most importantly - can I just install on an iPaq 3870 "out of the box" - or do I need to download map / driver upgrades (or indeed downgrades) I make quite a lot of use of the BT Serial Port on the iPaq - mainly for Simple SMS, but also for ActiveSyncing with my laptop. Have any of the threads here I might have missed got a straightforward description of the recommended drivers for new installs rather than upgrades??

Thanks in advance for any help....

Hi Andy,

Well although I've "only" got the 2210, I've just plain and simply installed TT3 wand connected it to my Emtac BT GPS. Worked without any flaw.
I have had some problems with other GPS software while TT is installed, but after the recent TomTomGPS update (see their site) 3.02 the problem is resolved and everything works fine.
So no extra drivers or other software is necessary.

Good luck with it!

Will I have to uninstall or install a different version of the "out of the box" TomTom bluetooth driver in order to be able to use the BT serial port on my ipaq to connect to my T610 phone (Simple SMS) or my Laptop (ActiveSync) ????

Also, with all the address lookup problems might I be better off cancelling the TomTom order and getting a Navman / Smart ST setup instead??

Getting a fix with any GPS system will take longer if you're moving. The receiver can do the job much more quickly when stopped.
