Plugged my TomTom Go720 into its cradle to update it tonight and getting a 'USB device not recognised' pop-up error message on the PC. The narrative on the error message mentions the USB device has 'malfunctioned'.

The Go isn't showing the 'do you want to connect to the PC' screen which it used to when I put it into the cradle. The Go just shows the normal navigation screen as though it isn't connected to the PC.

I have Windows XP Professional on my home PC.

Any ideas ? Is it the PC or the Go720 ?

Do a pin reset on the 720 and connect again. Often resolves the situation.

In case it helps, here's TomTom's own help page for:
1.Device not responding
(You connect your device to your computer but the device does not ask if you want to connect).
2.Device not recognised by HOME
(TomTom HOME does not start or does not recognise your device).
3.Device not recognised by computer
(Your device does not appear in My Computer (Windows) or on the desktop (Macintosh)).
