Avoiding roads

Hello all, I asked a question about doing VIA's yesterday, this is slightly different.

Is there anyway of putting AVOIDS in any route.

I.E. I want to go to Middlesbrough avoiding the M18.

Any way of doing that ??

Hi Paul,

From the Navigator Menu | Alternative Routes, Allows you to plan an alternative route to the same destination. A sub-menu will pop up with the following options:

Alternative: Plans a new route to the same destination, attempting to use as few roads as possible from the currently planned route. More than one alternative is possible.

Avoid ***: One, two or three of these icons may be available. They allow you to mark specific parts of your route (such as the stretch on motorway M18) as blocked. An alternative will be planned avoiding that stretch of motorway.

Alternately, in the Map View, you can add permanent avoids. Zoom on the area that you wish to avoid and then hit Tools | Avoid area and position grey box where you want it. Be warned that these avoids stay in place until you remove them.
