I wouldn't mind so much, but they still haven't updated roads that have changed years ago on my current regular commute. Every time I update I wait anxiously to see if they've put it right. Only to be disappointed. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T

So I take it the Map Share Updates I can get with the Live Subscription (and also 1yr after you buy a device or new map?) will only give my device map changes submitted by other users. It won't download any new junctions or changes to the road network as mapped out by TeleAtlas?

Map share updates - Free of charge - correct your existing map data with small corrections like road speed, blocked roads, no left/right turns. NO new map data.
Map update service - Annual fee - 4 brand new maps for a one off fee
Live services - Monthly/bi-annual/annual fee - HD traffic, google search, Safety cams, Buddies, weather _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

That's correct. BUT, BUT, BUT you will only get mapshare "corrections" submitted by an identical user - same device, same map. I haven't got the same as you, so you won't get any from me. I won't get any from you. Have a look at M5 northbound junctions 30 to 22 and somewhere you should see the speed limit at 71mph (IF you get my "corrections", but you won't). AND, AND, AND when you get a new map, if your "corrections" have not yet been hard coded into that new map, you won't get them either! And you'll have to do them all over again!
Demonstration - If you add a new speed limit or one way system to the road outside your house, it shows and remains on your device immediately (but doesn't show on my device because I've got a different device and different map). When the new map is released, if the speed limit or one way system has not been stuck in the new map by TomTom, it won't be on your new map and you'll have to "correct" it all over again.
I don't know if this is mentioned in TT small print, but you'll find it all over this forum. _________________ Dennis

My Go 720 is now 18 months old and the map is a little out of date. I was thinking of buying the latest map of Western & Central Europe which is on offer at £59.95.
TomTom is telling me that as an alternative I can sign up to their update service for 12 months for a total of £71 (including my 6 quarters back dated updates)
I was thinking this would give me 12 months updates for about £16 more than buying the map outright (which would be out of date by mid August)
Is this the best deal, or am I missing something here?
Why not the 24 months update card? I see another user has seen this! Has anyone tried it? I'm looking to update my maps for western europe and for £69.99 for 24 months it seems the least expensive, unless I'm missing something!?

Its only one map that gets the update, you would have to pay a second fee to have both maps covered by the update scheme.
As for transfering services to a new/ replacement device, you would have to discuss this with TomTom, they can do this - Mike
We just had a US poster with this problem. He had purchased the annual map subscription very recently, but had not yet used it. Since then he decided to buy a newer 630 and called TomTom to transfer the subscription to his new model instead. TomTom's reply? Sorry, no can do. Believe he received the same answer from two different reps. If you plan to change devices and expect to just swap your subscription, call them before you actually change, and get a written commitment that they will move your subscription. FWIW, the TomTom disclaimer does state the subscription is tied to the device it is purchased for and cannot be transferred except under very strict circumstances. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.
