MyGuide 6500XL upgrade?

Hi,

I have a 2005 MyGuide 6500XL which still seems to be working well hardwarewise but the Falk software and 5 year old map is becoming a pain.

As I see it I have 3 options:

1. Upgrade to latest Falk package (does it still exist?).
2. Install another navigator package
3. Bin it and buy another satnav.

Is 1 technically easier. Does it install in the memory area reserved for the nav software? How can I buy a copy?

I suspect 2 will get me a better satnav in terms of functions etc (I would like Safety Camera info) but how do I install it? I'm no expert in this area and can only follow detailed instructions.

Given that this hardware is four years old it may be cheaper or not much more expensive to do 3 but I hate throwing working kit away.

1 I think the Falk is long gone.
2 You can buy a McGuider 2008 Europe version for about £38 complete (Google Teleatlas McGuider) - see the McGuider section of this forum to read other users views. Or the 2009 version on a SD card for about 79 euros.
3 If you want to buy a freestanding unit, you could do a lot worse than to buy one of the factory refurbished TomTom units. Look for what is currently available at TotalPDA
