i get home today to find a £120 fine for turning right onto a side road in harrow (yes the borough that made over 1 million in fines last year).
what i need to know is if i appeal with photo evidence can i also produce my 910 directions that say turn next right with a print out of the screen.
i wasnt using the TT at the time but now loading the directions it clearly shows to turn right.
also put the route into my original GO and it was the same.
thanks in advance guys.

I think you'll find that there is no excuse for not complying with road signs etc

my TT told me to turn right
my wife told me to turn right
the kids told me to turn right
the dog told me to turn right

The driver is ultimately responsible and there's no substitute for looking out of the window at what's going on around you

TomTom maps are not legal instruments. Nor are they particularly accurate. So I very much doubt that any court of law anywhere in the known universe is ever going to take what one says as legal evidence.

The only defence you could possibly use is to prove that the No Right Turn restriction was improperly signed. ie there was no sign on the approach to the junction and no road marking saying Ahead Only with a big arrow pointing straight on. And of course that there are no No Entry signs on the side road.

I would suggest that if anything, attempting to introduce the TomTom as a mitigating factor may worsen any defence you have.

It could suggest you were driving without due care, regardless of what a SatNav suggest, the ultimate responsibility lies with you and your eyeballs.

What is the offence you are being accused of? I'd suggest you post over at www.pepipoo.com with details, they will give you the best advice and what (if any) defences may be open to you.

yep agree with most of the things said here , it is your responsibility to drive safely ,you will just have to chalk it up to the cops for catching you

This made me chuckle. It reminded me of the time i was on a motorbike lesson and i was at the front of the group for the first time. I was given the instruction "Take the next available right turn", which i did, straight into the EXIT of the test centre car park.

Didn't go down well with my instructor...

Can't see this "defence" working at all. Might give the court a laugh though...

Don't know the specifics of the OP ticket.
But I drive in Harrow a lot, and the junctions (Box and Bus only turns) are all covered by CCTV.
When they are not monitored for 'safety' reasons they are watching the cars park on yellow lines in the town centre and other violations they ticket by way of a picture.
As a shopping centre it's a dump, but I have to go there occasionally and I'm always careful these days.

Nice! Most of the people on this forum will offer help and advice with a little humour mixed in. Abuse isn't helpful.

i not abusing him, im telling him to be a man and accept responsability for whats he's done.

he was in the wrong, got caught and got fined, thats the end of it, looking for someone/thing to blame is not the answer, he must accept responsability.
