Could someone help me to I understand the Garmin map update/upgrade system. I've got myself thoroughly confused reading the Garmin website!
I've got a Nuvi 300 with City Navigator Europe NT v 9 - Region 7 (UK/Ire) installed. This is now nearly 2 years out of date, so I'd like to update the mapping. I'm also going to France this summer, so I'd like to add the detailed maps of France to my unit.
If I buy the nüMaps Onetime™ City Navigator® Europe NT download will this give me maps of France or will I also have to buy and unlock another region?

The whole of Europe will be included and will be unlocked when you purchase and download nüMaps Onetime™ City Navigator® Europe NT.
Mapsource will also be downloaded on your PC and you can use this to send the France maps to your unit. As you have a Nuvi 300 it may not have sufficient space and you will then need to send the additional maps to a SD card that can be plugged into the side of the unit. |

Thanks, that's very useful. It would have been nice if the Garmin website had made that as clear as you did.
Now I'd better brace myself for a 4GB download!

| Don't forget for an extra £30 you can get NuMap Lifetime which gives you all of the above plus quarterly updates for the life of the unit |

Thanks. I didn't feel like spending the money at the moment, maybe next time. Having seen how it all works, the extra £30 seems like good value.
Anyway, I bit the bullet, parted with my £60, and did the five-hour download today (I'm a long way from the exchange here). All went OK, and I've now loaded the updated GB/RoI maps plus part of France. I'm just waiting for an SD card from Amazon so that I can load the rest. As Paddywack said, the update installed Mapsource on my PC, and I've already managed to load a few waypoints from my PC. |
