Why on EARTH would anyone want a POI of roundabouts? (Apart from Dougal, I suppose).
Is there a mini roundabout spotters club? Do they go on excursions to view the latest ones? Newsletter? This could run. _________________ Dennis

A friend has just suggested that the newsletter would be pretty good for the missing words round in Have I Got News For You.
Apologies to tafrost. We really shouldn't take this attitude. _________________ Dennis

well, he asked for our views
still, let's see what some others think - maybe we're missing something really obvious?!
i remember someone asking if there was a speed bump poi and it turned out they wanted it because they had incredibly low suspension ant they damaged their car easily!

If you're a TomTom user, why not just submit them as Mapshare corrections? these are now automatically incorporated into your current map.
Remember POI = Points of INTEREST. I've never found a mini roundabout very interesting!
Personally, I use POIs as places I may wish to navigate to at some point. I can't imagine ever wanting to navigate to a mini roundabout. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Just realised, if he drove the wrong way he'd get "Turn aroundabout when possible." _________________ Dennis

It was only an idea, as I din't know these changes could immediatly be incorporated, having just done a short (1 hour) trip from East Sussex to Kent and passed over at least 5 that were unknown to TT!

I hadn't realised this! Does the TT then change the spoken directions ie "go around the roundabout..." rather than "turn right"?
If it does get to HIGNFY I think it should be a special OB filmed in Milton Keynes or Swindon!

Hi tafrost,
tafrost wrote: | Does the TT then change the spoken directions ie "go around the roundabout..." rather than "turn right"? |
Yes it does, as soon as you add it to your map corrections.
Whilst it does use the newly added roundabout details in the route voiced instructions and the next turn icon at the bottom of the screen, unfortunately the newly added roundabout won't show up on the map itself.
Don't forget to allow your updates to be sent to TomTom, so that the updates will hopefully appear on a future map.

I just did a Browse map, Find, Address, Street and number, Swindon, County Road and it offered me the junction at The Magic Roundabout. Cool! _________________ Dennis

Struggling back on topic...

I think this is down to the mapping suppliers TeleAtlas, who seem to have made a policy decision to completely ignore mini roundabouts. |
