Medion Pocket Pc 2003

I have decided to buy a medion 40600 from classfieds. The guy who sold the medion gave me a bad CD. Also the Medion I bought runs a german version of PocketPC 2003. I have tried to update the language pack using a translation tool and the software from my device failed.

I have tried to get a Cd with Medion software but no luck so far.
I sent tons of emails to medion but no replies to my emails.
It seems there is no hope left for me.

Can anybody help me?
I'm open to pay for this CD.

You may be able to do something about the language the navigation software uses - though I'm not sure quite what Navigon and Medion will be able to do to help.

The language of the Pocket PC operating system and built in applications is almost certainly fixed. It appears that the Microsoft Pocket PC licence only covers the language version of Pocket PC installed on the Pocket PC when it was new.

Dear David.
I have tried to restore the software on my pocketPC after I installed the language translation. But without any chance. The only option remaining for me is to install the PocketPc2003 on my handheld. Since I don't have the windows Cd's I have no option left. Can you help me ?

You can help me only if you have the original windows Cd's for this pocketPC.

You don't reinstall Windows on a Pocket PC, as the Operating System is in ROM (well, flash memory if you want to be pedantic - but it's effectively ROM).

To reset Pocket PC to a 'new device' condition, you carry out the hard reset procedure (which I don't know for the Medion). The result will be all the user data, user installed programs and settings wiped; the Pocket PC will be in the state it was in when it was first powered up after leaving the factory. This procedure normally interrupts the power from the battery to the device's RAM, wiping its file system blank and meaning that when power is restored, Pocket PC sets itself up again from scratch. (Incidentally, this means if you ever let your Pocket PC's batteries go completely flat, the Pocket PC hard resets).

One word of warning - if you hard reset, you may need a copy of the navigation software supplied to reinstall that, as that's probably not in the device's ROM and the software may not reside fully on the supplied memory card(s) either.
