I have a 740 live with a 4 gig sdhc card, tom tom home ask's me what device I want to use when I start up home, it offers me internal mem or to use the card.
I can copy my map and photos to the card, but when I try to use the card only for my maps and photo's my 740 can't see my maps or photos.
I thought with this model I can just have the map on the card and my unit should see it ok.
Windows see's all the files on the card but not my 740. could it be the formatting .

Have you put them into correctly named folders? They won't work if you just put the loose pictures on the card and the maps have to be the complete map folder with files as contents in them.
So if you had the same maps and photos on both card and device, you'd end up with folders on both the device and card called photos and Western_Europe_Map (or whatever map you've got) - looking at the card with Explorer, you'd just see folders photos and Western_Europe_Map. Then you can view the photos, or switch maps. _________________ Dennis

Yes I installed the Map 7& the photos through home and they all showed up ok in there, its just that when I go to use anything on the card the sat nav does not see it if the internal memory is being used.
I have just copied all my internal memory to my card and deleted all the files on the internal and it works fine, I can view photos and see them on the unit. But Home does not see any items on the card when I go to remove items from my device . So the sat nav is reading the card.
Any more ideas

I found similar with the 940 a while ago, the trick is to put the whole lot all the files and folders on the memory card then it works - it would appear the x40 devices cannot share the memory card in the same way the x20/ x30 devices do - Mike |

Cheers for that I was coming to the same way of thinking because thats how I have it setup now and it appears to work the way I want it to.
