Navcore 8.35 and new map

I have subscribed to the map update scheme, but reading the problems that people are reporting with the latest Navcore release, it is putting me off somewhat.
Can someone tell me if it is essential to have Navcore 8.35, before I download the latest map?

Others report that 8.302 works with the new 830 map.

DHN is correct. Any 8.3x app version will work with the latest map.
