Though working OK in car found today my TT720T had problem with PC recognising; has a 4gb SD card too.

Reset several times; turning on with or without installing SD, ( I have all backed up via Windows), is stuck on TT Black screen, (Drums sound OK) and PC assigns them as G & J Removable disks (NO TT Logo showing against hdd).

On both, double clicking says to insert card Crying or Very sad
Any tips as how I wipe the hdd with PC not seeing properly; feedback valued Cool

Removing my SD card and inserting in PC slot it sees contents fine.
Connecting TT with no SD, PC assigns Removeable drive letters of G&J, which is odd too: how come two?

Trying formatting, PC only allowed on one ie "J" but Windows then says "Windows was unable to complete the format"

Format the memory card using a card reader rather than with the card in the TomTom, the copy your backup (I trust you have a full backup) to the memory card whilst its in the card reader. Once this is done pop the card in the TomTom and switch it on, it should now boot from the memory card and work correctly. It could be the internal memory has packed up, or something else, but putting everything on the card should get it running again - Mike

Have formatted SD, pasted in Windows backed copy, but on boot up, TT Screen stays at Green with TT image showing.

PC doesn't see, neither was I asked if I wanted to connect; will keep persevering.

If you have done a hard reset then it sounds like something is faulty - try logging it with TT and see what they say.

Is it less than a year old and still under warranty?

And the Sale of Goods act would reasonably expect the device to function for more than 12 months, so you are entitled to a repair regardless of the guarantee period.

Give it a try with the retailer you purchased it from - you may be surprised!

When Windows sees just the one drive, can you run chkdsk /f on it?

Tks all; Canada I find at moment it gets stuck on green screen/TT image, but not asked if I want to connect, and now PC has no sight of it.

Only way to turn off is to reset each time.

I have wiped SD's (used alternative) and replaced with progressively older b/ups, so must be something critical on hdd I fear..and that I can't sort.

I haven't tried putting a HDD b/up onto the SD; guess I should try that permutation too. Rolling Eyes

Well worth a try, but the fact that the device won't boot off of the SD and that you can't see the SD Card when the TT is connected to your PC is a bit worrying.

hmmmmmmmm....

Think I saw this somewhere (nothing ventured ....)

With the unit off, do a pin reset on the unit and the sd card out. Now, insert the card with the unit off. Do another pin reset.

Thanks have tried that permutation; I found an old Returns Bag sent whilst in Guarantee, but not used.
Rang TT and they agreed I could use RMA previously issued.
So in mail back to them.

Bought via Amazon retail partner who thanks to their unhelpful attitude, will never see a penny of mine again (Pixmania).

Trawling their support pages transpires they offer free 1 yr extension on most purchases, though at time of purchase only offer is for chargeable.
Tried to use this benefit but told only valid if claimed at time of purchase; check mate Twisted Evil

Well TT Repair service in Scotland turned my 720 around very quickly and without cost, despite being 14 mths old.
Said they'd found nowt wrong, but had obviously been able to flash and clear error, which I was unable to do despite numerous resets.

Loading stuff back now; is there a shortcut (for future) so you can back up your speed camera sound settings, rather than having to allocate a sound to every type, each time??

STill see that on my Vista machine that Operate my Go won't work as has been reported by others; have looked for files from previous TT Home installation, but can find none. Is fine on XP; time TT sorted this Vista problem.

Once you have the device fully set up take a copy of the MapSetting.cfg file which you will find in the Western_Europe map folder as this file contains the warning set up along with Favourites and a few other items - Mike

No guarantee here but I've seen a few resolve their Vista/Operate My Go problem by right clicking the Home executable, properties, run as XP compatible (or whatever the correct wording is ....)
