Just got back (London) from a trip to the in-laws (Durham / Sunderland). Whilst i was away "'op North" i noticed i didn't get any HD Traffic info regarding London and the surrounding areas. In fact i didn't get anything south of Sheffield.

Whilst "dahn Saaf" i don't get any reports north of Loughborough. Occasionally a few dots appear but nothing like i had this weekend. Also checking against the HD Traffic website all the Northern Traffic problems are on the website but not on my 740.

Does this happen to everyone one?

Incidentally my sub is up tomorrow and I'll be renewing for the year. Been really good. Weather and Fuel Prices are pointless but HD Traffic has been a god-send. Have avoided many snarl ups and traffic jams even on the local roads round here. Except this morning when HD traffic was trying to tell me to use the A1 but the A1 looked busy as i approached the A1 / M1 split so i opted for the M1. I even ignored a last minute plea from HD Traffic to come off the M1 as i remember the nay-sayers here mocking HD Traffic...... Only to run straight into the back of the M1 / M62 hold up today delaying me for 55 minutes.... If only I'd listened to HD Traffic.... Crying or Very sad

Oh, and Google Search is handy too...

Best bet is look at the HD Traffic online and on your unit and notice the differences. It is hard for me to tell as most incidents tend to be around the M25 where I am.

Yes Paul, HD traffic works in a similar way to the RDS version. You only receive traffic for the 'area' you are in.

Here in Newcastle where I live, I got HD traffic from Dundee down to around Manchester area and all in-between.

Likewise, on a recent trip to Alton Towers, I received a lot more 'southern' traffic and less 'northern' traffic!

You will get data covering over 100 miles North and South of your current position and as the UK is quite thin it tends to be be full width of the country.
In use this offers around two hours of driving time and as you move up or down the country you will always have that two hours of driving time before going out of the provided coverage. With the exception of a major motorway crash most incidents will clear before you run in to a tail back - Mike

Thanks. That explains that then... I was worried before i left that there was reduced coverage up north but the coverage was better once up there. Was good to see advanced warning of problems on a local A road and to drive under the nose to tail standing traffic above the roundabout and take an alternative route one day...
