Richard, I take it you mean that it downloads data regularly but that you don't need to be connected to the internet to use Google Earth.
If Google Earth is not connected to the Internet, it will use whatever data it has already cached locally.

If you continue, all that can been seen is a general fuzzy image, and any areas with any detail are the places you have looked at recently. How far back the caching goes I haven't verified yet.

So, in summary, I believe that Google Earth would need an Internet connection to be able to reliably use Poute Mapping and POI location. Smile
