Hi,

I'm running memory map 2004 on my Mio P550.

The problem I have is that the gps plotted current position thats showing on the map is about 200 metres from my actual position so when I go on a route the marked position on my map is never wher I am.

I also have TomTom 6 on my P550 and when thats running the plotted position is accurate.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Sounds like you may not have it set to to British National Grid.
Settings, Units, Position.

TomTom will always show the position on a road as the program is designed to show it that way.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked my pc and that is set for british national grid.

Do I have to change settings in my P550? - if so - how do I do that as I cant find any menu showing british national grid.

Thanks

Hi budjazz

Yes, you need to check the Mio as well.

Should be able to get at it from Menu, Settings, Units.

The Menu bar may not be showing up at the bottom of the screen. If this is the case there should be a small green dot with arrows in it. Touch this dot and the Menu should appear.

Hope this helps.

Found it,

I have changed setting on my Mio to British National Grid.

I have been out and the position still seems to be behind where I actually am.

So I go up my road and the GPS position follows me where I have been. The route it follows is accurate but always behind me as if it cant keep up.???

I have used my laptop with a bluetooth gps receiver before and the gps position is always where i actually am and not behind me (it keeps up with me if you know what I mean)

By the way the POSITION is set to British National Grid. But what should the UNITS be set to - either STATUTE/NAUTICAL/METRIC.

Thanks again

Ive got mine set to Statute but I dont think that will make a difference to the actual GPS position.

The only other thing to try is in the GPS setup. Mine is set to Generic NMEA.
I guess it must be set right otherwise you wouldnt get a GPS signal.

I had the same problem on my old AximX5 with TomTom and never solved it.

Sorry, cant think of anything else.

If it's anything like my Garmin, you need to set the map datum to OSGB (not WGS84) as well as setting the position format to British National Grid.
