|
Hi,
New to all this GPS and Pocket PC lark, in fact only bought my iPAQ for Tomtom navigation.
Have downloaded the CheckPOInt 2.02 from this website, when I double click the exe file on my computer it goes through a couple of screen then comes up with an error message saying Windows CE not installed on this computer
I copied the file to my 2210, tried to run it from there and it said it wasn;t a valid application.
Am I completely missng something obvious, if so, what ?
Thanks in advance

You run the .exe file on your computer with ActiveSync connected to your Pocket PC - the same as most .exe installers for Pocket PC programs.
If it doesn't work, your download is corrupt - delete the .exe and download again (you may have to clear your browser's cache to force a new download).

I know the file is OK - I created it and sent it to Dave when version 3 originally came out and many people found themselves wanting the 2.0.2 version which is no longer available from the CheckPOInt site.
You downloaded a Zip file, which contains a single .exe file. That's a Windows installer - like most Pocket PC software. With ActiveSync connected, you run that .exe installer on your Windows computer and it will start ActiveSync's Add/Remove Programs to copy the application to your Pocket PC. Do not copy it to your Pocket PC.
If you still can't make this work, can you describe exactly what you do to make the error appear (especially what is showing in your ActiveSync window), also give what version of ActiveSync you have installed, and what firewall, if any, you have installed on your computer.
If necessary, I can email you the .cab file for CheckPOInt 2.0.2 which you can copy to your Pocket PC and execute there to install - but that's not the best way to install a Pocket PC application.

I have ActiveSync v3.7 Build 3083 installed
It is showing the green syncohronized picture on the top right, and that the stuff I want synchronized is
I have tried to install iGolf 2 and the Tomtom patches and they work fine, the ActiveSync install feature works fine
I double click on the SetupCheckPOInt_PPC2002.exe file which is in the zip file on this website
It goes to the first info screen describing the checkpoint software, I then hit Next
I accept the license agreement terms and hit Finish
and a window pops up called 'Setup' saying
Windows CE Services not found on this computer. Setup cannt continue and will now exit
