The additional data for the Reality View/ Lane Assist and speech recognition will add up to quite a saving in storage space, but not the reduction from 2GB to less than 1GB, so something else must be missing - Mike

The current map for your device is v825.2157 which you should get using the Latest Map Guarantee for you new device assuming you haven't used the Latest Map feature yet?
Connect it to Home, update the software to the latest standard then use LMG for the new map - Mike

Give TomTom customer support a ring in the morning and ask them why the LMG will not allow you to have the latest v825 map, the number is 0845 161 0009 - Mike

Thanks Mike for that -- got through to a very nice person in Amsterdam who understood the problem.. and agreed that I dont have the latest map number..

It because that I have previously had the old classic registered at my email and it was saying that my maps were OK for that -- and there was a new map for the Classic V.660 940Mb

Any way she is going to [hopefully] do something and up date my record after I have replied to a email that she will send me -- when I will have to prove proof of purchase etc.. I think I will have to send a copy of the Amazon receipt..

So at the moment -- Work in Progress

PS
I have also ordered a 4 GB micro SD card for it -- as I only have 193 mb left on the 2GB tomtom..

Re using an e-mail address that has been previously registered with TomTom for a different device throws up allsorts of problems as their system simply cannot cope with this. I did this recently and ended up in a mess with the Live services on the 940 Embarassed

It sounds like TomTom will resolve this from what you have said, for proof of purchase simply take a scan or digital picture of the receipt you have for the device and attach that to the e-mail you send them - Mike

thanks Mike.
TTom Support sent me an email-

I had to connect to TTHome
and select the configuration from the tools and copy to clip board -- then go to the TT support site [link in e-mail] and paste those details into the answer box..

I also copied the receipt page from Amazon for payment and delivery of Tom..

as yet no reply.. but hopefully awaiting

still not heard anything -- so looked on the TT Site at my questions -- and it is sitting there.. not actioned - sent 2.56 yesterday..[Friday 13th]

so rang the number -- but offices closed -- open 9am - 8pm Mon-Fri..

so maybe will get an answer after they start on Monday -- or is that too hopeful..

They don't work at weekends AFAIK so give them a few hours on Monday to resolve this, if you have heard nothing by lunchtime try phoning them to check they have all your details and necessary information to process the issue - Mike

Rang again on Monday as still no luck... talked this time to a nice chap..

he worked his socks of trying to sort things out -- but it just wouldn't let him send it to me -- So he passed it "up the line" -- and sent me a email saying what he had done.. 43 mins on the phone..

Today Tuesday -- hooked up the 740 to Home -- and there it was WE v825.2157 -- but in red -- this will not fit on your device !!! it was 2057 MB to big for the 740L with only 2G..

So on the phone to Amsterdam again -- this time another bloke -- very understanding again -- he could see what had happened -- apparently they have versions -- and sub versions and sub sub versions all of differing sizes -- the one they had sent to my Home was the wrong sub-sub version..
Will Fix...

went away and connected 740 to Home and there it was ---V825.2157 just waiting to be downloaded --
So that is what is happening now.. and according to the download..6.09 mins to go..

then I suppose it goes on to Tom..

I have fitted a 8Gb Sim[SD?] chip and that makes my 740 big enough for any thing now I hope..

get back at the end..
4.15 to go!!!
Maurice

Up date -- not much later -- well the map came down and installed ---
Wrong map !!!!
sent me Western Europe -- Not Western and Central Europe...

On the phone to Amsterdam again -- Londoner this time --

He said sorry etc and sent me the correct one with the correct sub-sub-version details.. as we spoke...

down loading now 20:30 to go...

will not even say anything this time ...

there was one small glitch when the previous map had downloaded and just switched over to install Tom Home shut down Saying "Timed Out"

started over and did Map up date and it immediately went into where it had left of..

So 18.27 mins of download to go

Lets see what happens --- this time..

OK -- got it -- and working on the 740L

Not the easiest thing I have done..

The only problem was --all the Poi's -- and Fave's -- lucky I made a back up and could hunt them out and cut and past them across -- seems to work..

Had to reset all the sounds etc..

OMG -- to think this has taken me at least 6 hours !!!

Will take it out for a Test drive tomorrow.. see if there is any noticeable differences in the maps..

[ Might change the Speed cams back to my "consolidated by type" tomorrow.. to much hassle setting the sounds for the others with the speeds on.. ]

wheeew what a day..

Maurice

Are you using ogg audio files for the Speed Zoned camera warning sounds? as this can make the setup time considerably faster than entering each warning when the Text To Speech system is used for the warnings - Mike

errrrrrrrr..

I am just putting a Bleep for a mobile
and a Bong for a fixed gatso

regardless of speed..

and a ding-dong for a traffic light..

are there "down-loadable" attachable sounds??
