I have a TT730 and according to most of the websites for TT I can use the FM transmitter for TT instructions and for music (mp3). But my TT gives me this option only for music and not for instructions (only internal speakers, bluetooth Hi-FI device and line-out audio cable). Is anything wrong with my device or what??Why I can play only music and not TT instruction trough audio car speakers?? Thank you. |

It appears that option was removed in the 8.3 firmware 'update'. _________________ David |

Yes..I noticed this absent from the x40 range with 8.2 as well.
errr..Why?
I guess in one way this allows you to have a separate music volume from speech volume. |

apparently it is due to some obscure EU rule about *not* having intermittant FM transmissions.
Seems daft to me. VERY glad I got a Bluetooth car radio now. |

Geez.....
That explanation will not go down well with users on this side of the pond who are bemoaning the loss of functionality vis-a-vis the fm transmission.
Oh well ........ _________________ David |

How does that fit with FM being in the new 940? Or is that different in some way? |

But it doesn't transmit instructions AFAIK. |

Cheers Andy, I've asked Ofcom for some detail on this, have tried searching but not found anything in black and white, not that I doubt its true. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Okay, I can sort of understand that then, but surely to stop being intermittent they just have to keep the transmitter on all the time, or offer a load of background tracks, one of which is basically silent.
Most odd, but the 940 seems even poorer value than ever! |

Do you know, I'll swear that when I had my 920 transmitting navigation instructions to my FM radio, if I kept the radio on but switched off the TT, the radio gave off an unhappy sound which it didn't if there were no instructions being transmitted. In other words, I thought the TT transmitter WAS transmitting all the time, including "nothing" when there wasn't anything to transmit. Senile Dementia, maybe. _________________ Dennis

Whilst I don't like to see the loss of functionality and apart from the novelty value of listening to the instructions through the car stereo, are there circumstances where on a unit such as these with a relatively high sound ouput where it is beneficial to have the sounds coming out of the car sound system? |
