I have just started a 14 day trial of Navmii satnav software for WM devices (HTC Touch HD). Are PGPSW aware of this software and if so, is there any intention in the future, to provide a database format for this application?

Does it support custom POIs and if yes, what format?

I noticed this in Smartphone & PDA Essentials magazine this month (S&PDAE #86, the "GPS Buyer" section at the back).

I then had a look at NAVMII's website. I could find nothing there on POI imports into the software, so did a google search, and found this old FAQ...

Can I import my own POIs?
POI Import will be available in Q2 2009 via software update. Please contact Navmii Customer Service’s or navmii.com for latest news.

So, unless they're well ahead on their schedule, I'm assuming no POI imports yet, which is a hell of a shame, as for nigh-on fifty quid, using current telemap data, it looks like a damn good deal for PDA users!

Caveat Note: I have not tried the package, I'm going on what I've read in a magazine and online.

Having used the trial I can say it is still very much a work in progress. The core functionality is there and working well but the nice extras (like custom POI) are not available yet.
Also this is aimed very much at the 'group of friends know where each other is' market. It appears that this is one of the main aims of the product.

It will be worth the 14 day trial for those interested, but I would wait until a newer more feature rich version is available.

Kinda what I figured from the review in the mag and the material on-line. Be interesting to see how this software evolves Smile

Vince, what did you make of the routing this application chooses? I remember trying it and it had great affinity for motorways even producing a 15 mile route for my trip to work which normally takes 8, OK so it would have got me to my destination but it was this that put me off the application - Mike

Routing seemed on a par with McGuider, which also has an affinity for major roads over more minor ones. That said I didn't use it much on routes I didn't know well primarily because it didn't support custom POI files.
