Hi

Went out for maiden bike voyage yesterday with new Active 10 yesterday. All went well and the unit faithfully logged my 26 mile route. When attempting to import the GPX file from the unit (via my PC) on to mapmyride there was an error message (something about not recognising lat / long co-ords) and only 17 miles of the 26 mile route is displayed on the MMR route. Rolling Eyes

Any ideas on what might be causing this problem. The GPX file size is 825kB. Cant see much on the MMR forums about Active 10 issues.

Cheers

Nick

Did you use the Sat Sync software on the PC to get the file from the device? - Mike

There are two files produced a .map file which Satsync can then export as a .gpx file and a larger .gpx file. I have found in the past that the .gpx file appears a little idiosyncratic. I have not had problems with the .map file however I have never walked more than 17 miles in one go!

Yup, had downloaded Satsync from the Satmap website this morning and used this to copy the file on to my PC.

By the way there are only appear to be two files visible on the unit from SatSYNC, the GPX file logged yesterday and the Landranger map file

I assume you converted the trail to a track on the Satmap itself.

Remember that in Satsync you need to export or import files using the menu option, rather than drag and drop or copy and paste.

Thanks for replies so far.

Didnt know about converting trail to a track, so previously had just taken the trial GPX file off the Active 10 with SatSYNC. Have now converted the trial to a track and when uploaded to MMR - the route teminates at the same location (i.e after prematurely at 17 miles).

After converting to a track, the map file appeared on Active 10 but after uploading this exported file to MMR it shows the waypoints on the whole 26 mile route but also has a radial line from the origin to each one, a mess.

Am using export where function is available, otherwise copy file from active 10

Nearly there, but not quite !

If you want to e-mail me the files you are having "fun" with I will have a look to see if there is anything wrong that I can see.
The unconverted GPX, the converted GPX and even the raw trail file in .map format if you still have it - my e-mail button below this post is active so please feel free to use that - Mike

Soultion to the problem is to run the Active 10 in power saving mode so that trackpoint collection frequency is reduced to every four seconds, resulting in a smaller GPX file. It was quite a whopper at 825 kB.

The upload limit of the beta route share is only 100 kB !

Interestingly www.bikely.com can upload the large GPX file, so I'll use that from now on.
