BT, CF or wired?

Hi,
I am a newbie in GPS world. I have an Ipaq 2215 and I am about to buy my first GPS. I want to use it in my car. The first thing I need to decide is which type: BT, CF or wired? I know every imlementation has its pros and cons. What type would you recommend? For SW I am thinking of TT3.

Hi, I'm using an Ipag H2210 with a Sysonchip CF Plus compact flash card, 256MB Panasonic SD card, with Tom Tom 2. Its mounted in a Brodit active data/power holder onto a proclip in my Peugeot 206 GTi. I also run an external antenna from the top of the car into the CF card and satellelite reception is very good.

I then power the cradle using a retractable h2210 cigarette lighter from Expansys.

I went for that solution specifically so I did not need to hardwire stuff into the car, mainly because I am hopeless with such things.

The brodit mount and external antenna stay on the car at all times, and the PDA and CF card come in the house with me, it can be tiny pain to set it all up at the start of a journey (slide PDA into cradle, turn on and power up cradle - i'm very lazy) but its worth it, especially since i've not had to pay anyone to install it.

Starting again, I wouldn't hesitate to go for the same solution, but i would most likely buy a bluetooth setup, run the external antenna into it, get someone to hardwire power to it and leave it in the glove compartment.

Since the CF card is ideal for walking and I try and avoid walking as much as I can, the portability is a little bit wasted on me, but I was convinced into it by reading its review on this very website.

Some people have experienced lag problems with that card, and initially I did, but i put it down to the athermic windscreen on my car interfering with the satellite signals, as since I got my external antenna, this solution has been very usable for me now. The whole set up is fairly neat, I have some pictures somewhere if anyone is interested. I love it and would recommend it.

I would say, a CF card if you need portabilty or you dont mind it sticking out of the top of your PDA, Bluetooth for convenience but watch out for TomTom issues, and wired if you dont mind wires. If you have a coated windscreen watch out with all of the options!
