Hi Guys,

I am thinking of buying a TT 930T and just had a couple of questions. Firstly does the unit have the ability to pin point a place if I wanted to go back to it on another occassion. Say a nice restaurant while in Spain and next time I come I would like to go.....can you do that?

How easy is it to add POI's to this unit?

thanks in advance

Its very easy to create your own Custom POI files on the device and store locations for later recall, you can even add the phone number to the POI so you can give it a ring to make sure its still open.

Adding POI files to the device via your PC is also very easy - Mike

Thanks Mike, so literally if I am about to leave the place I can add a POI at that point and it will save it for a future return?

Does the TMC work well? Also the main reason I am getting it is the lane guidance. Does that work well off of motorways? I understand small roads will not work but say going into main towns/cities where lanes can be confusing, will it work there?

Am looking forward to getting it!

Yes you can store current position as a POI location or just browse the map to add a location to a POI file - loads of different ways to do this on the device.

RDS-TMC isn't brilliant in the UK although it is better than it was, reception issues are still a problem in certain parts of the country.

Lane Guidance works well in most major cities, for example I find it very useful in and around Manchester, but in Blackpool there is nothing once you leave the motorway - Mike

Thats not one I could answer in a fair way as I tend to only use TomTom, I have got a couple of earlier Garmin products, but I haven't even tried/ seen the 765 unit as yet - Mike

I've got both and were it my money I'd go with the 930.

The Garmin 765 is a nice unit but it still has some stability issues and I find it less intuitive than the TomTom.

However I accept that if you ask 5 TomTom and 5 Garmin users that question you will get a 50:50 split! At the end of the day if you can't get a hands-on with both then either is a good unit.

well i have owned both garmin and tom tom, currently have 530T. brillant unit. tmc works well i have travelled around kent, london and surrey no problems withr eception. i love the new tomtom over my older garmin unit. the only thing the tom tom does not do which my garmin does is the garmin will tell you what side of the road your destination when u get there. but thats only very minor otherwise the 530 wins hands down. would never go back to garmin
