Good Evening

What IDE packages are there for developing graphic custom gps applications on windows platforms.

I.ve have just bought a usb gps reciever and what to develop my own mapping application. The gps reciever is a Haicom HI-204III GPS Receiver With USB interface.

Not sure there's a specific IDE but it reasonably straight forward.

All comms to the GPS will be acheived through a conventional Windows COM: serial port. Whether it's a BT/USB/Serial device

You need to ensure you are using NMEA data streams to begin with as these are ASCII character streams with comma field delimiters and are simple to handle. Leave SiRF until you have NMEA working! A GOOGLE for NMEA will reveal all the information you need to get started.

Your supplier may have some SDKs for their device. GARMIN used to - I used it with Visual BASIC years ago to plot positions on scanned OS maps - until I discovered the very early version of OziExplorer!
