The answer is probably "no", but would this work with a 730? Looks to be a better mounting solution than the standard sucker...

The answer is definitely no. This mount is only for the Go Live x40 range. _________________ Drivelux |

The RDS receivers aerial exits the mount via a small hole in the ball that the mount swivels on, therefore to prevent the cable from being severed there is a mechanism to limit the rotation to around 270 degrees there is also an amount of restriction in vertical movement which is again provided to prevent the cable from being severed.
You could increase the range of movement by taking it to bits and a little 'adjustment' using a dremel or small file, although this will void your warranty and could possibly result in a snapped aerial wire if you force it too far. You cannot use the swivel housing from the normal mount though as it doesn't contain an exit path for the wire aerial.
I guess it depends how far you want to modify the mount, if you fit a small connector to the back of the mount for the aerial wire to exit via then the swivel restriction wouldn't be required, but this is more involved, for myself I would like the RDS Mount in the Brodit style, but its not an avaìlable option without DIY - Mike |

Its a real shame the rds-tmc version of the mount didn't add an aerial connector onto the clip part of the mount itself next to the other connectors and provide a short aerial. This would have given people the option of connecting into the car aerial and not limited the mount movement
I find even the standard x40 mount doesnt work well on my Saab 9-3 dash with dash disk. Its bearable but the screen is inclined slightly up as the dash is highest near me and falls away towards the screen. The mount just doesnt adjust enough |

I'm not clear from the tomtom site if the Fixed Install version has the ipod AND line out connector. I contacted tomtom last week and asked if any of the mounts supported this, they said No.
Only the new windscreen mounts mention ipod/line out connections, but I thought I'd seen a picture showing these on the fixed mount somewhere.
Can anyone confirm? As I'd rather have a fixed mount for my 940. |

Which mount is this Andy? The RDS mount? |
Yes, I was referring to the mount in the link that I'd quoted above my reply.
It is indeed the RDS-TMC one.

Interesting... the one I have has the restricted vertical/horizontal movement, but there's nothing to stop you rotating it on it's axis as much as you like.
I keep trying to remember which way I've turned it, so I can turn it back the other way! |

So you can get 360+ degrees of movement from the mount - in which case I would consider what this rotation is doing, and the aerial wire will snap if you keep turning around which it shouldn't be possible to do - Mike |

Yes, that was exactly my point! I mentioned to TT that it was going to snap as soon as I got it, which is maybe why they've modified it now. |

Andy
have you used RDS-TMC with the new mount yet, and if so what's reception like? I've just ordered a new 740 live, and had intended to get a USB TMC receiver and hook it up to an external Fm aerial as my previous one. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Whilst I don't mind discussing the new mount in terms of form factor etc the actual performance isn't something that should be compared, those of use with Beta test hardware have no way of knowing if a production version would perform better or worse than the hardware we have.
Eitherway it is easy to connect an external aerial to the mount should you find one necessary - Mike |

The RDS-TMC mount for the x40 range was officially announced yesterday.
