This is a great site, and I love my British brethren, but I would like to find a site like this for US-based GPS systems. For example, the programmer guru here (can't think of his screenname) made some really cool custom icons and software for the Speedcam feature, but it's all for Europe and GB!
I found a couple of sites, but they are based in Europe. Help? |

Just in case you're talking about the icons I made, although the icon names are for UK or EUR, a simple rename will make them usable throughout the world.
The camera database is growing. According to the Active Cameras list, we currently have over 1800 cameras in the US, mainly redlight ones. _________________ Gerry

Yeah, but the signage is all European. Our speed limit signs look different than yours. Ours are rectangular with black writing on a white background. Yours, well, you know what yours look like... |

And if you mean the POICapture application written by Lutz (lbendlin) - he lives in the USA! - Mike |

We're a British site but we have members world-wide and try very hard to encompass members and requests whatever country they hail from.

If you give us some examples or can point us in the direction of a site that shows the US signage then maybe we can sort something out for you?
As for GPS issues, it really matters not where you are in the world and this is as good a site as any for help, especially as we have a huge user-base, possibly the biggest of any similar site.
What GPS do you have? _________________ Darren Griffin |

And MikeB, one of our director's, works out of Florida for 2 or 3 months a year, and between myself and Darren, we must be in the US at least 1 or 2 months annually.
Heck, MikeB's started spelling favour as favor. That means he's almost an American in my books!... and I've started using words like heck, not a word widely used where I come form in London
Seriously though, we talk to, email and have meetings with members of the US GPS industry on a regular basis and hope to grow our US content substantially over time _________________ Robert Brady |

Mind you, if it's not being disloyal , there is also the GpsPasSion site in the US. I've used it a few times and it seems quite good. Haven't looked to see if you can track down road sign icons there though. _________________ David

Yeah, but he's probably worried that we all eat children!

I was under the impression that it's only the Welsh who eat children? (My maternal family name is Edwards...)
But, yes, as far as fixing "problems" with my GPS, of course this site is fine. I was thinking more in terms of the custom software being written. The only example I can think of right now is the icons for the Speedcam/Redlightcam software that I mentioned earlier. |

What device do you have? If you can provide a link to the type of signage in use in the US as I said we can see what we can offer? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have a Nuvi 680.
here is a US speed limit sign-
This really isn't a big deal at all. I don't need custom icons, but they are fun! It was more of a question that occurred to me...(It seems like the "good" GPS sites are Europe-based. I wonder if there is a good one in the US?) That's all, no biggy. |

I think we'd prefer that we encouraged our members to remain here but we're not about to start dictating that you can't post URL's so feel free to post it! _________________ Darren Griffin |

That's pretty cool of you. I know of forums where that is frowned upon.
Thanks for the responses guys (gals?)! |
