Hi all,

Have just bought 2 refurb'd TT One 520's thanks to the link that Mike Alder posted after we were having problems with TT One 3rd Edition.

The 520 was delivered last night and must say I was that impressed that I've now ordered another for me!

Anyway, connected the other halves O2 Samsung D900 without any problems and all works fine....

However, when I switch TT on the GPRS on her phone then changes from blue to red to say its active and possibly receiving data.

Soon as I switch it off it reverts back to the normal blue and says disconnected.

Why is this, does it alway need to be on or active as she is worried about costs.

I said it will only use it as and when it needs, but we haven't got TT Traffic and haven't set TT Buddies yet, but its on as soon as its switched on.

Cheers all and thanks again mike,

TomTom will start a GPRS connection through the phone and this should not normally cost anything unless data is transferred. There are a very limited number of mobile providers who charge for each connection made as well as the data downloaded, so do check your GPRS tariff to make sure you are not on this one.

Within Traffic there is the option to limit the updates downloaded.

Is the O2 a contracted handset or on Pay as You Go, only contracted phones through O2 can connect to the server at TomTom as the Pay as You Go service doesn't offer full GPRS connectivity via O2 - Mike

Hey all,

Well her phone is the Simplicity Tarriff at £10/month so contract......however what you said about O2 and PAYG not offering full connection, what do you mean by a Full Service?

My XDA Exec is now a PAYG from a Contract and after finally getting the settings have never had a problem connecting to TT Traffic or any of the services.

This was home and using it abroad in Holland and Germany last year.

Cheers all for the replies,
