YES, I did mean SHORTEST route!!
If you read the post, you'll see that I gave a distance for SHORTEST route AND a distance for FASTEST route.
Please do not presume to tell me what I meant, just because you got confused between these two settings.
The SHORTEST distance given by TT is 12 miles LONGER than the route I drive. If it were as simple as choosing a different setting, I wouldn't have wasted my time planning the route with waypoints!!!! _________________ Andy

This is like batting my head against a brick wall! The device says "Turn left here" and you don't, you carry straight on. You have changed the position of the device. It must start recalculating from somewhere brand new to it. It doesn't know from Timbuctoo! |
Hello, you are not listening, but twisting my words. There are only so many ways I can rephrase the basic logic. You obviously have no intention to try and understand it so I won't try again. I consider this matter closed.

I didn't claim to be commenting on the whole issue, which was why I only quoted the erroneous statement.
You obviously have more time to waste than I do, so I shall withdraw from this thread and spend my time and efforts in a more constructive manner. _________________ Anita

If you're going to constantly quote others, could you please at least click the "PREVIEW" button to check it before you post something which is incorrect _________________ Andy

My apologies, I did misunderstand what you were saying. In your last line when you referred to 3 routes I rather thought you were talking about my 3 routes. Re-reading your post of course I got the wrong end of the stick. However, I don't think you need to be quite so aggressive in your response, it was a genuine mistake and I genuinely believed that you had made a slip of the keyboard.
Incidentally, curious to see that TT does get it wrong sometimes, for no apparent reason.

I assume this is aimed at me. I always check my posts. In fact if you have access to my edit history you will often find I edit very minor typos. _________________ Tony

Yep, just like that and, yes again...just take a stroll through this thread and check all your quotes which have been corrected - they contain a "Edit to correct quotes - GPS_fan" comment at the bottom. _________________ Andy

I didn't know the preview had a 'but'. Is it shapely? Male or female?

Dunno but, surely, a nice shapely female one is surely a butt
Male ones tend not to be so shapely - not that I spend as much time looking at them, of course! _________________ Andy

Sorry, perhaps I misunderstand how editing works. This is a genuine question so please don't shoot me down on it if it seems naive. I understood that if you make an edit before anyone replies to the post then there is no visual evidence of this in the forum. Is this wrong ? Because I have a habit sometimes of posting and immediately checking it when I see it posted (having checked it pre-post). However, if this gives problems I will religiously use preview instead. _________________ Tony

So here's a genuine answer. If you post, then you can see it's gone wrong, everybody else can also see it immediately you press the Submit button. That's why Andy said "Preview button". But now, you've edited those posts, so Andy looks foolish for advising you to preview. That's why, if I were in charge, there would be no edit facility and if I were in charge, doing such edits would be a ban offence. The edit button allows people to spout drivel and get away with correcting it. I'm not in charge, so you're safe, but take note of what you've done here. In a later post you said "I always check my posts" and I nearly had kittens, with your dud quotes in plain view just above! _________________ Dennis

Sorry, in all those words I didn't see an answer, let me rephrase it. I thought I had read that if you make the edit before anyone replies to it then the fact you edited it is transparent to anyone looking at the edited post later (I don't mean in the 30 seconds while I am editing). Is this true ? _________________ Tony
