Adding music to SD card but tomtom not seeing it?

Whilst I agree it's rather interesting what's happening with these disappearing folders, can I ask why you are bothering to put your mp3s in alphabetical folders anyway?
The TomTom doesn't use the filenames or subfolders to do its sorting of the music files, it uses the "ID3" tags buried inside the mp3 files. If any of those are wrong (and they often are) you can get weird results. You can use iTunes or similar to edit the tags.
