Hello all
I've just purchased a third party 240v mains charger for my F20, as wanted to charge at home before use in the car. How do I monitor charging times though? When plugged into the charger, the unit only displays a fixed battery indicator with the external lead shown. I'm used to devices like mobiles/mp3's etc. which usually have a moving or graduated battery indicator when charging.
Can the F20 be over-charged, or do they have an automatic cut-off which stops charging once full?
For information, the 240v charger is outputting at 5v, but only at 500mah. Whereas the 12v car charger also outputs at 5v, but at just over twice the ampage (1.2a).
Does anybody have the official Navman mains charger and could list it's stated outputs?
Many thanks in advance, Leigh.

You cannot monitor the charge state of the battery the device will take care of that, leave it plugged in overnight and it should be fully charged by the following morning even from a 500mA charger or the PC's USB port - Mike

Thanks Mike
You are right. It appears the F20 stops charging once full, so it's safe to leave it overnight.
There is some charge monitoring information if you know where to find it!
By pressing the main menu button while powering up, you'll access the maintainance menu. From here, you can see battery voltage, battery capacity as a percentage, and when charging, the charge current.
For info: My F20 charges at approx 156mA, and the battery voltage shows between 3.7-4.0volt. Although I don't know why, when charging, the battery capacity shows as -1%. When not charging, this changes to show capacity as 50%, 60% etc. I've not seen it at 100% though.
As the F20 approaches fully charged status, you can see the charging current dropping towards 0mA.
For my own knowledge, I left my F20 powered up receiving a signal, and it lasted just over 3 hours. I was quite happy with that, as it was bought used, so battery capacity could have been well down on what is stated in the manual.
I hope other F20 users find this little snippet of information useful, as I doubt you'd get it from Navman directly!
Best wishes, Leigh.
