What more do you want to know about these two misplaced BP stations?

Of the two BP examples so far one was on the same road , so might have been due to postcoding, and the TT location of the other one was too vague.
I'll have a go at the new Esso provided by theripper one later today. |

According to the Post Office, the postcode DA12 3BH relates to 8 properties, all on Watling Street. These are all named properties (no numbered), and include both the Northbound & Southbound service stations.
There don't appear to be any properties on Scotland Lane, so it doesn't have a postcode. Having said that, Google satellite view does show a building at the end of Scotland Lane - I wonder if this is one of the named properties with that postcode, and the Post Office just doesn't recognise Scotland Lane?)
Both Google maps and streetmap.co.uk centre DA12 3BH on Scotland Lane.
I suspect this one is purely an error caused by the postcode variance, and not by incorrect data. Unfortunately, it doesn't prove my point! |

Sorry I think I'm having a senior moment here. I have a 720 I have tried on many occasions to stop TT warning me about TT cameras, I only want to be warned about PGPSW cameras, but I can't seem to do it. I know I am getting loads of double wanrings and would prefer to stop them. What is the name of the TT camera files please? I know that in POI warnings I have found a category "Safety Cam UK Premium" but I don't have a warning associated with that so I shouldn't get double warnings, is that the only TT file? What are the TT camera files called when looking at the TomTom through windows explorer, if I can identify them I'll happily remove them from there. |

The TT camera data is handled in the "Plus Services" or "TomTom Services" menu NOT the POI menu. Warnings for them are set up there.
Very odd you should see an entry for "Safety Cam UK Premium" in your POI menu as they do not appear there normally, and I thought the "premium" service was only for the x40 LIVE models anyway....
However, what ever the reasons for that might be, if you want to get rid of them the filenames are pretty obvious:

Not sure what version of TT HOME you are using, but on Page 2 of 3 on version 2.6(beta) it says - Remove Items - just click that and you can remove the TT Safety Cams from the Points of Interest menu.
If you want to keep a copy first then just - Copy to computer - on Page 2 of 3 again.
The TT cams should then be removed from your unit. |

Are you saying that this varies depending on what model TT you have then. |

Do you mean whether the menu is called one or the other?
If so, it changed in one of the fairly recent software versions
My Go 940 has always called it "TomTom Services" and my 720 does too now, but it used to be "TomTom Plus Services".
Can't remember when it changed but I happened to have v7.221 software on a card on my desk and sticking that in the 720 reverted it to the old name.
The actual menus are the same though. |

Hey folks,
Many thanks for replies, I've gone the windows explorer route and removed all the files with 'TomTom' in the middle of their names.
Just one more question about setting up warnings. When it asks 'warn only if poi on route' does that mean you have to be 'navigating to a destination' for the warnings to work or does that mean it will warn of cameras on road you are travelling (even direction sensitive too), regardless whether you're navigating to a destination or just in 'watching' mode?
Many thanks |

YES, if you tick that box it will only warn when navigating.
So leave un-ticked to get warnings at all times. |

....but if you leave it unticked, you will get lots more false alerts from cameras within range on nearby roads, not just your own.
So it's your choice, neither option is perfect. |

Thanks again guys, I think I'll stick with all warnings. I use TT a lot when on familiar roads (so not navigating) but find the camera reminders very useful.
By the by I've been playing with Snooper device, their database is no where near as good as it claims to be BUT I do like the full screen warnings when a camera comes in range and somehow it manages to pick up cameras in direction of travel even when not in navigation mode.
As I've said elsewhere the best device IMHO would incorporate features from TomTom, Garmin and Snooper and would be compatible with the PGPSW camera database !! |

That's because it is direction aware. We have direction data for the majority of our cameras but currently only one manufacture supports them. Others such as Garmin reserve directionality for their own more expensive speedcam service. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren, I didn't know that.
Which manufacturer is it that supports the direction sensitive data? |
