I was talking about proposed cameras that people might submit, i.e. rumoured future camera locations based on some kind of inside info, or predictions.

The reasoning is that by submitting a camera before it's install they hope to get a lead on other reporters and grab the coveted Lifetime Subscriber award.

If they are lucky and the camera is installed and goes live before we verify then the gamble pays off, if not its an own goal and the first reportee who actually sees it gets the award.
The really hard work for Verifiers is that the speculator submits say four cameras each way in estimated locations which are invariably way off target, then if we don't get along soon to reject and remove them, along comes someone else who reports another 8, another somebody does so and before you know it, we could end up with a real load to check. The sixteen speculative ones I rejected on Christmas Eve have been replaced by another 16. I get a separate download just of cameras to be checked, which I have on my second TomTom with their own warning voices - if that 16 turn out to be 8, it'll be quite a game sorting the ticks from the crosses! Especially if some need their locations to be adjusted.

So did any on the M42 get added in today's release?

I am going that way tomorrow so will find out first hand of course but will update now and see how we do!

Sorry, but that trip if I did it just for checking those submissions is something over 250 miles round trip! I've been through the checks of M5 Junctions 4A to 4 twice this week (and still not got them right - they also had a lot of speculative submissions!) because I've had deliveries that way, but for me M42 will be waiting for my next trip north east.

There are something like 16 or 18 on my new checklist between A5 junction and the top end of M42, so if they are active by now (?) keep your right foot bare and on a piece of sandpaper. We have received no indication of the speed limit, which leads me to wonder if they are still speculative and no real cameras there yet?

If you see any, submit them.

Last time I verifier a long SPECS section like this with false alarms going off all over the place, I found it was easier to just switch off ALL the warnings and mark my OWN positions for them all. Then back at base you can re-enable all the submissions and see which come closest.
