720 and 8.3 'Help me' files missing

I have just loaded 8.3 onto the 720 and found in the 'Help Me' section the Dr's, Police Stations and Pharmacy icons are all greyed out. I have downloaded the latest from TT's site - nothing. Any thoughts?

The usual problem with the "Help me" access to POIs was just not having any UK ones, but the icons weren't greyed out.
That sort of implies it cant find ANY of those POIs. Can you select any doctors, pharmacies etc from the normal Browse map / Find / POI near Home / Doctors etc. route? (even if they are all in Belgium!)

Presume you've tried a reset?

You could try adding the UK files from the second part of THIS TomTom page anyway, to see if that kick starts it.

Hi, Yes done a reset and I can see all the Dr's etc from a POI search. I also have all the UK versions. When I was running v8.1 I could see them once, the second time I tryed they would be greyed out. To recover them I would have to connect to the PC (not Home) then I would just get one shot again. But with 8.3 they are greyed all the time... I will try your last suggestion

.... Tryed that, they were the files I downloaded yesterday. Didnt help.... Thanks for your input anyway.

My post is going to be less than useless, but here goes.
This happened to me, on my 720, and I was reading through the posts here and someone had posted the same and a reply. I tried it and it worked.

Bottom line though, I don't remember what I did!!
Never used it though - touch wood / fingers crossed.

I've been through search didn't find what I'm looking for. I have already loaded the Poi's from the TT site. I did try changing the name of a POI for B&Q stores I have to that of UK dentists TT poi. Once again the icons were grayed out, but again I was able to select it from the Show POI and it did display them on the map.
To me that shows that the POI is OK and that it is something in the app that mucks it up.
Would running 'Clear Flash' solve it? If I were to run that is there any problem loading everything back in after. I don't have any product codes etc for the maps I'm using. I do have a (windows) backup.

There is no harm in trying the clear flash toolset, you have your backup so if it all goes pear shaped you can still recover the device.

Just one other question first, is there more than one map folder on the device, it has been seen before when people install files to the non active map folder on the device then wonder why the files don't show up. Try Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Maps and how many are listed on the screen - Mike

Just 2 maps the Canarys and Western Europe and the POI's are in Western Europe.

I have run the clear flash tool - no change, but I have noticed the phone for help works fine, it just the 'walk to' and 'drive to' that has the problem.

Take the device out to the car and see if it works once its got a position fix with you actually on a road - Mike

I've already thought of that one..... No change. Like I said on my last 'Phone for' works, walk and drive don't.

Not had any brainwaves yet.
I guess the next step is to revert to an earlier software version (hopefully you have some backups, they will make it much easier to roll back) and see if it all comes good.
Then try a new download of v8.300 by deleting the existing one on the PC to force Home to download a new one.
