TT GPRS: M45 closed

TT have got to sort this out. The M45 has been closed since yesterday, it is reported on the news, trafficengland.co.uk and even TT GPRS, so why can they not get this info onto HD Traffic.
Another one is M5 J2-J4 that is still reporting an accident that happened a couple of weeks ago.
As for the rain, TT Weather is currently reporting Sunny with scattered cloud (no sign of rain!) - but showing a rain weather warning on my driving view. (an ice warning may be appropriate though) |

Just a thought - and a possible weakness in the system. I know the HD traffic data is supposed to be coming from various sources but it seems to major on 'slow moving' Vodafone SIM cards so...............
..........if the road is closed there will be no traffic on it at all and hence no SIM cards reporting slow traffic so the system would not be aware that there is a problem.
Did a 630 mile round trip over Xmas..... HD Traffic reported several small delays none of which I ever experienced i.e. it was still showing the delay as I passed through that section of M Way at 70 mph.....
I am beginning to wonder if this HD is all it is cracked up to be ( at least outside London where people think it seems to be OK) |

Am I correct in assuming if I plan a route from Manchester to London the tomtom will only take into account the traffic delays in the Manchester area (using HD), even if say the M6 was shut in the Midlands? Where as I would have chosen to take the M1 if the M6 was shut. _________________ -------------------------

With RDS-TMC the device will only see local (ish) information probably extending South to around Birmingham, an x40 with the HD Traffic system will see much further South to around the edges of the M25 so it is better placed to make a call on traffic incidents further away. GPRS Traffic on the other hand offers full country wide coverage.
Any of the three systems are fine in use though as it takes time to travel to the edge of the information on the device, as you travel in a specific direction the information is updated giving more information specific to your location - lets face it leaving your home town you are not too bothered if there is a hold up on the M25 as it will have probably cleared long before you encounter any associated delay, even RDS-TMC offers at least 90 minutes driving time in any direction from your location to the boundry of its coverage - Mike |
