Pocket GPS database Vs TomTom's own

Hi guys,

I used to have a subscription to the PocketGPS camera Db and I want to re-subscribe. However I see that TomTom have their own out now.

What are the benefits of TomToms own over the PocketGPS?

I will probably go for the PocketGPS version as I know it works now and is very customizable but just curious.

I know the benefits of using PGPSW rather than TT:

Accuracy both in terms of position and information such as type and applicable speed, the inclusion of known locations where Mobile cameras operate from. Add to this the options for different spoken alerts which can tell you the speed applicable to the camera you are approaching as well as the type of camera.
Finally there is the possibility of free life time membership if you spot a new camera location not in the database and are the first person to report it - Mike

Plus full transparency with PGPSW. Once the database is loaded you can browse the map and see all the cameras. With TomTom you only see the cameras "on route".

Hi Jack,

There is no comparison between the TT and PGPSW data. The PGPSW data is much more up to date. Includes many hundreds if not more locations and as said can be customised with different voices etc.

In the interests of fairness....

Currently, TomTom's own system can
1. Often ignore cameras on the "other side of the road" (usually, but it's not foolproof)
2. Give continual reminders as you travel through a "SPECS" average speed zone.

Both potentially handy, but no use at all if the basic camera position data is no good!

All the details needed to do the same thing is already there in the PGPSW data, but the TomTom software doesn't use it.
