|
|
Bit of a long time lurker so please go easy on me.
My 910 battery is not holding its charge particularly well.
I updated my software, using TT Home, a couple of months ago. not sure what version but can check.
However the battery seems to last for a few hours when switched on but when its fully charged and left for about 1 week, the battery level shows the low level indicator.
Before this I dont recall having a problem with the battery doing this. Could it be the software version?
The unit is about 3 years old and worked fine.
Have I answered my own question?
Thanks in advance. |

When you switch your 910 off with the power button you are really sending it to sleep, some of the circuits inside the device are still operating which does put a standing load on the battery. Over a week it will consume quite a bit of the battery charge so I guess what you are seeing is normal. Whether this standing load has increased due to the new software isn't something I know without measuring pre/ post software updates on a 910 - this isn't an easy test to do and is of very little value.
You can shut the unit down by pressing the reset button to shut it down, the battery charge state should remain far more constant but you run the risk of damaging the reset switch through repeated use. There have been reported cases of the reset switch breaking on the x10 devices, so would put up with the normal power off rather than the reset method - Mike |

Thinking about it, its onyl really been noticalbe since I updated the software. Before then I was still getting around 4 hours usage and the battery would last, without being used for about 2 weeks or more without there being a shortage in battery life when switching back.
Do you think a change of battery would be good or just suck it up and use the power cord all the time? |

Just use the power chord, so of the other TT Range start to distort voices and flash the display backlight withour being on charge in the car, I don't know if this is the case with a 910 but it is intended to be used with the power lead, I wouldn't change the battery until it is really needed - Mike |

Living in the Channel Islands I only use my TT a few times a year. The rest of the time it lives in it's home dock which is permanently connected to a powered hub so it's always on charge. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Thanks you gents.
I think I will wait and see if its get drastically worse.
But in the meantime will use the power cord and keep downloading the speed camera database!!!
If it wasnt for sites like these, so many people may have just wandered down to their local retailer and spend some hard cash on something that doesnt really need to be fixed....
Cheers again. |
