I have a nuvi 205W. I am not interested in using custom POIs. I have my favorites arranged in categories. How can I edit the favorites to include address info and comments? The unit lets you add a phone number, but there is no option for the address. I had an older GPS unit that would allow you to enter address info and comments. What program can I use to edit the .gpx file easily without altering the category field?

Thanks

A GPX file is simply a text file that is formatted to conform to a particular language structure.

It can be edited by any normal text editor but you will need to understand what language tags are capable of being understood by the device.

A look here will show you the GARMIN take on tags.
It seems to have everything you want and more besides. Topografix are the de-facto keepers of the GPX 'standard'.

Interestingly quite a few people just use POI's as you can create these in .GPX format and run them through POILoader to create the POI file. That is they don't have any favourites.

You can easily create a structured list on your PC (they are simply Windows folders) and the benefit of this is that you can use the .GPX files directly on other GPS devices. I have POI's I use on my nuvi and also on my Colorado hand held. Obviously any .GPX files using GARMIN prop extension will probably NOT work on non-GARMIN devices.
