I'm not sure if this will help or upset people some, but I beleive Darren is correct in the assumption that the HD Traffic will not be released in the UK. The reason being this.
I had a Go 720 and I purchased a V1 TMC receiver for £39, it never worked.
TT replaced the V1 with a v2 which was better but still not good, I complained and kept opening logs etc etc.
Back in April 08, I was promised a free upgrade to the HD Traffic receiver when it was released in the UK.
October/November still no resolution, so I escalated the issue and gave TT two options either supply or confirm when HD would be released or upgrade my 720 to a 740.
To my surprise they agreed to the 740 upgrade, but I received a 940. I've been very lucky but you have to ask yourself why they have not confirmed the release date and just agreed to upgrade my unit.
So do any of Tomtom's rivals have anything to compare with HD Traffic?
Due to being let down by Tomtom I would rather go elsewhere, but the HD Traffic would be useful for me and I am not going to cut my nose off to spite my face
I contacted TomTom yesterday and had what was previously stated on this site confirmed, not only that they suggested a work around which I have to say I was a little dissapointed with, see below.
Dear James
I regret to inform you that HD traffic will not be released In the UK for go 720. I apologize for any discomfort this situation has created. If you really do want a device with HD traffic I would advise you to purchase the go 40 series, 940 which has HD traffic.
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Great solution go and spend more money on a new TomTom device which will probably be out of date within 6 months thanks to TomTom who seem to be only interested in making a fast buck with no concern for their customers.

Not that I'm aware of, but it looks like Orange are stepping up to the table with there offerings of GSM data tracking for traffic information as reported in this post.
Perhaps this is the kick up the backside that TomTom need to get there HD Traffic service up to scratch. _________________ Graeme Bennett
