I am sure I have seen a previous topic on turning off the voice alert "Recalculate" on certain Garmin models but I cannot find it. It is only this command I want to turn off as it is pointless and irritating, particularly if you are going on a new road which it does not recognise and so recalculates every few seconds.
I appreciate this is quite a specific request but if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Sorry folks. I have found the thread that clears this up. Looks slightly complicated but I will no know more when I plug in my i3 at home tonight.

Download THIS

First select another language (American English) then switch off the i3 and take out the sdcard, put it in a reader then backup the old English_British_.vpm file from the the voice folder. Replace it with the downloaded English_British_.vpm file and the only thing removed is the dreadful "recalculating" voice.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to resolve this by following the thread below
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=52344

You need to read most of the pages as some are not clear. I had a few problems and after I had sorted everything out I did a step by step guide, on page 11 of the thread. A lot of the replies assumed that you had a good level of knowledge on how the software works and I am sure I am not alone in not being at that point. Mine was the noddy version after a lot of trial and error and accumulating the advice given. Thank you for taking the time to sort this out though.
