Well I think the S100 is great, The explore function is new and the glide touch takes a bit of getting used to, but very good design

I couldn't help noticing that both the Tesco and Halfords website still do not have this model available despite Tesco's (still displayed) banner announcing that it will be availble from mid-October! I seem to recall a similar problematic launch to the S90.

Does anyone know what is going on at Navman? Has the S100 been released and, if so, who sells it? Also, when is the S300 going to appear in the UK?

Have a look at the first post in this thread. It's due out in November. See also CaptainDrift's post (above) - he seems to have got one but has not answered the question of where from. As to the S300 - there has been nothing anywhere apart from Tesco's site, that even mentions it. Perhaps it's a figment of someone's imagination. Sad

PS I forgot to mention that this model has been launched in Austrialia - see here

And yet the Navman website says
Quote:
Purchase and register your Navman S-Series between 1st October 2008 and 31st January 2009 and we'll throw in the 2009 map update for free.

They are not talking about the new S series per se, but including the present S** models - so if you buy an S90 between now ( or if you bought one through October) and 31 Jan next year and register it, then you will get the free map update when it comes out next year.

Good point. I must have mentally dismissed the earlier (<100) versions as not being a sensible buying option for me.

If you are looking to upgrade your present Navman, then I think the following is worth looking at. Even with the present €/£ exchange rate the top of this range is only a few £'s more than the S100 & you get 33 countries mapping and free 2009 maps when they come out. I'm just waiting for their launch (hopefully this month).
Check this out here

Yes, it certainly makes the S100 look poor value at only ~£20 less than the 580. How does one get hold of a Moov in this country?

Mio tell me they will not be on the market in the UK. However, if you go to their website, and click on either retailers or web sellers, there is a list of British retailers. I have contacted my local one and they are expecting the devices to be available from them this month.

Gee-Pee,

Would you let me know who your potential supplier is, please.

I used the link that you helpfully provided and the Moov site gave Evesham and Halfords as local suppliers. The telephone number given by the site for Evesham is a wrong number, and Yell have no listed for such a company in Bristol. My Halfords branch denies all knowledge of the Moov 5xx; as does their website. They appear to be trying to shift older stock first.

Any help gratefully received.

The Navman S100 is released and available in the UK now - ordered mine online yesterday (Sunday) via Hafords.co.uk @ £199.99 + £3 next day delivery, just had confirmed shipped and will be with me Tuesday (tomorrow)

I believe they have first UK stocks

Comes with free 2009 Map Upgrade when available (approx. June 2009) if you buy and registered before end of Jan 2009 (as do all S models new and old)

Halfords stocks still show as out of stock for STORES but IN STOCK ONLINE, as do Navman (usually leave theirselves last for availability as they get stock out to main suppliers)

As a Navman fan, cannot wait to give the Spirit 100 a go!

Good news and now we need members like you to test it out and let us know what you think. At the moment, I'm doing a comparison chart between the Navman S100 (the only new Navman available at the moment) and the Mio Moov 500 range which is about to launch (Eight models of which the 580 Europe Plus is the very top of that range at £233 approx).

There are a lot of similarities and each have their own good and bad points. How they actually do their job though, will be interesting.

Will definately let you know how I get on with it

My main reason for choosing the perhap slightly lower spec Spirit100 over the Moov is the new generation of Navman software on the S100 - the Moov seems at the moment to have Navman SmartST 2008 3rd Edition (if that exists)
