Hi Mike
I have a puzzle. I have gone to my last Backup (prior to downloading my new map) and into the MapSettings.cfg". I have selected all and copied them to my MapSettings.cfg" on my device/new map. They are there, I can see them with Notepad, and I save them. They stay there until my Device reboots and then, Bingo! the MapSettings.cfg" reverts to its original contents.
Why is this? _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Copy the entire file, not just the contents to the new map folder. In other words, overwrite the new mapsettings.cfg with the old mapsettings.cfg _________________ David |

Sounds like the file is either corrupt or the new map wants the file in a slightly different format, I don't use the Favourites because of the associated problems when the file goes AWOL - you are far better using a custom POI category as these are more stable and offer the same (if not greater) capability.
You should be able to use POIEdit on the PC to open the MapSettings.cfg file and then create an ov2 file from the data for a custom POI file - Mike |

Hi Mike and dhn
Oh dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear! I must be a bit of a Wally for not realising the obvious. I have now overwritten the MapSettings.cfg, and Yes, the favourites etc are now all on my device.
Thanks. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Now turn them into a custom POI file and you will not have the 48 line limit as per favourites, neither will the file be as prone to loosing its contents or giving you problems next time you update your map - Mike |
