Following a recent disaster with an unbranded sat nav I got fron E-bay I have now obtained a Garmin nuvi 205w. At last I'm getting speed cam alerts!!!. I've been trying to upload into it the Travelodge poi into it from this website for some time now with no success. I've got as far as getting the .zip file into "my documents" and even extracting to another file which shows me the .bmp and .csv files for Travelodge. What do I do next???. I've loaded these files into the Garmin and have put them into the existing poi folder, but it doesn't seem to recognise them. They certainly don't show up when I go into poi's on the device itself, I would expect to see the Travelodge logo from the .bmp file and the list of hotels in there. There are two existing files in the poi folder, namely "ukcyclopssample.gpi" (553 kb) and "ukcyclopssample.unl"(1kb). Should the Travelodge stuff go into one of these?? Quite frankly I'm scared of doing this without asking first, knowing my luck with all things computerwise I'll destroy these files completely and be back where I was just after my e-bay experience. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, how are you uploading them? You need to use Garmin's POILoader application, are you? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren, Well I wasn't using the poi loader so I downloaded it as you suggested and then did a poi download from the folder where the travelodge stuff was into the garmin. I got the "congratulations you have just uploaded 1531 new pois" message and there are now two new files in the poi folder, both .gpi types. But I still don't see the travelodge logo and can't see the list of hotels. Should I have a new category on my garmin screen with the travelodge logo on it when I tap pois?? |

They'll appear under Where To?, Extras, Custom POIs.
Please note when you add new POIs it wipes out any exisiting ones so you'll need to load the Travelodge POIs and the Speed Cameras together. Make a folder on your PC called My POIs and store all you POIs together there. |
