Well actually it's the mount that's gone loose. Not the ball joint on the sucker but the actual mount with the connections on it. This causes the RDS/TMC to disconnect when travelling over bumps but, funnily not to connect again when going over the next bumps Rolling Eyes . The 910 is locked on to the mount but as I stated before, is very loose. Does anybody have any suggestions as to tighten it up.

TIA Flinx

Is it the plastic body of the dock with the connecter on that is loose? - if so you can remove the three Torx screws securing the case together (Size T6) this will allow access to the other two securing screws (Torx T7), tighten these up then re-secure the case - Mike

No, it seems to be the connection allowing the 910 to lift 1cm whilst "hinging" on the electrical connections. on some bad bumps the unit has tried to turn off but normally it just disconnects the RDS.

In that case it sounds like the two plastic retaining "pins" have become detatched or the spring forcing them to the locked position has grown weak, it should be possible to get it fixed though as its out of warranty its going to cost - Mike

I wonder if it might still be JUST inside warranty - wasn't that series the last with TWO years?

An ex-TomTom tech posting in a US TT forum said that 910's produced after April/2007 only came with a 1-year guarantee, not two.

That may apply only to North America, though.

You could be right David. Since I stopped being 68, I think my memory has started to go. Sad

Flinx, I have a spare and unused x10 mount here. Drop me an email (darrenATpocketgpsworld.com) and we can arrange to get it to you, all it will cost you is the price of a padded envelope and some stamps.

Have a look at your warranty, my 510 is still within it's 2 year warranty period, purchased December 2006.

If Mike is correct and it is the pins or springs that are causing the problem then they are in the 910 itself and are not part of the mount.

You are quite correct the locking pins are part of the 910 body, to check these are working (or not) turn the unit upside down and look closely at the connector, at each end are the locking pins, try pressing the mount release button on the front face of the device and see if you can see the pins moving in and out - Mike
