Hi
I have lost speech sounds. I have checked that it set for using internal speaker, and it was, I have checked the volume is set to Max and that "Simon" is set to be used, but when I click "Test" I get no sound, also when driving I get no direction sounds and I get no traffic cam warnings. It has been perfectly OK up until today and I have made no recent adjustments or mods to my 920.

Were are the voice files stored, whats the name of the folder?
Anybody any ideas?
Thanks

PS
Just copied over the original "out of the box" backup files.... Loquendo TTS and Voice files but still no spoken sounds

Frst the silly idea - you haven't got "Turn off sound" set have you?

A more obscure possibility is in preferences there is a "Speaker preferences" option (page 6 on the 730). check that this is set right (try internal speaker). If it's set to FM and there's no radio tuned in, you'll get no sound.

First thing to check... do you get ANY sounds out of the speaker? (eg POI warning sounds such as bell 1)
That will tell you if it is an audio problem or a voice problem.

If you DO get sounds, is it just a Text to speech voice issue? If you switch voices to a recorded one such as Kate or Simon, do they work?

Andy, I think you'll find that kate & Simon are computer voices and that Tim & Jane are recorded voices.

So it looks like it's a software issue.
Time to delete the program files (The ones NOT in a folder - leave all the folders alone) AND HOme's program downloads folder on the PC, and get Home to re-download and reinstall the software?

Hi
I decided yesterday to delete everything and do a reinstall from a 2 week old backup I had and it is working again now.
For future reference, deleting all the files and not the folder as you suggested Andy, what advantage would that have been over doing a full format and reinstall?

I've just seen your post, I had the same problem, but I also had no phone, and I need the hands free for my job, when I updated my 720 to v8.10. So I put it back to 7.48 I think was the last one before 8 and all is ok. As that unit has a 710 map I don't need v8 fw on it.
