I have just got my new 'toy' and eventually loaded Memory Map software, but the manual supplied is very basic and I would like to find my way round a bit better. So I am looking for any good sites with tips, manuals, guides and also any good freeware and other utilities I might use, so any suggestions from other users gratefully received here!
My main use for the device will be hiking with GPS/Memory Maps but I understand it may be able to be loaded with TomTom etc for use in the car.
I'm also wondering if there are any free upgrades available to Windows Mobile 2003 and if it is possible/wothwhile to upgrade to mobile 6.1 (latest?) and how much this would cost and where to do it - could I still run memory Map too? Are there any other good mobile (walking or driving) software applications I could run on it?
Its a great little device and a better shape than my Road Angel to hold - also the transflective screen allows viewing in sunlight without the backlight (though display is far from bright and clear). Of course big disadvantage is its not waterproof like the RA.
You can definitely not upgrade to 6.1, the best you can do is upgrade to 2003se, and the major benefit is having screen rotate in the O.S. and can be configured to one of the buttons, which is particully usefull on TTN6 from which it was removed, their is various postings covering this. many progs available. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8
Hi. If you're looking for tips with the 168, be very careful with the charging port. They do tend to be a bit brittle. There are however one or two decent places to get them repaired, if you scan the net.
Get a cradle to avoid connector issues or reduce the likely hood
Athough a problem for some I agree, I have had mine for about 3yrs without problem but I use a cradle at home to Sync & charge and a powered cradle in car, It alse so much simpler and makes life so much easier to fit and remove.
I will be posting a link in this Cat shortly with all the files needed for upgrading the Mio168 to 2003se, this may be the last and only chance of getting it as all links now seem dead. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8
