Two things to add to this thread. First, roundabouts are often not added if they are essentially the same as the junction. Certainly mini-roundabouts, as they are quite often changed back again. So long as the roads coming in and out are correct, the map doesn't need changing.
Second, a little road to a new estate, built in the last year near me, was added to the map that I got with the new 740. I suspect that the time to add any particular road is not uniform, but updated as they travel around the country surveying. So it may be that we've just been surveyed, but changes here could be years away as we won't be visited again for a while.
But the MapShare is getting better with each version. On the 910, I could only enter a text message saying that a suggested turn was not possible from a road but on the 740 I was able to "block" one of the possible directions, which should (I hope) stop people being told to do illegal and dangerous things, or looping around infinitely. |

Of course the trouble with that philosophy, is that you don't know what you may have missed, and the update you have been waiting for may be there. _________________ Regards

No, but they did not have a street atlas of Europe on paper maps. _________________ Drivelux |

Yes, I did - and still do.
I don't see that having a satnav removes the need to have an up-to-date map in the car, and they're cheap enough! _________________ Anita

Since satnav is tasked with removing some of the drivers decision making in real-time, I would state that the need for updates is greater than paper maps.
The satnav system is not capable of interpretation in the same sense as a guy reading a map, and so any instructions given by satnav will reflect the accuracy of the data used.
That why we still need to look out of the windows. |

I've been put off buying a new map 'cos they always seem out of date.
Can anyone with the latest and greatest map tell me if there is still a roundabout shown in error at the junction of Summerley Lane and Felpham Way Bognor Regis when it should have been 400 yds east at the the junction of Felpham Way and Middleton Road. I reported this 2 years ago.

Yes it's still there on the latest map 815.2003 but it seems that the next map will be the first to incorporate map corrections
