map share - room on sd card??

hi all
just wondering as i do not have a great deal of space on my sd card and have recently updated my maps so now have access to mapshare - all these 0.3mb downloads, do the old ones get deleted or at what point can you not get updates because your card has been filled by previous countless other ones?

No don't worry....
Each Mapshare update replaces the last, with a single package containing ALL the updates for that map (otherwise you wouldn't get most of them if you "started late" like you have).

I think the way it works is this...
1. First Home checks what Mapshare corrections you already have on your machine (and maybe copies them to the PC temporarily),
2. Then it downloads any new ones it finds on its servers,
3. Then it merges them together (on the PC?)
4 Finally it writes back the updated files.

Unlike other downloads (like the ephemeris data for GPSQuickFix) nothing gets left on the PC in the Home/downloads folder.

The main correction data is held in 3 files:
MapServerPatch.dat
ServerLineIndex.dat
ServerNameIndex.dat

On my W+C Europe maps the first two are about 4MB each and the last is about 2MB
Plus there's a very small file (PatchFilter.dat) that says what countries you need data for.

Obviously if you only have GB maps the corrections file will be much smaller.
